A childhood memory by Neil

Created by Neil 4 years ago

Aunty Jan, or rather Jan & David, have been a part of my life since my earliest memories.  I well remember when I was a youngster the Jowett Javelin pulling up outside Meadville, my grandparents’ house in Weymouth.
Ted and Chris West (my grandparents and David’s uncle & aunt) welcomed everyone in for tea and cakes.  A jolly time was had by all.  Mum (Jean) and I had come down from Dorchester for the day.
When it was time to go, I distinctly remember the children (Richard, Chris, Jose and maybe even Will?) clambering into the back of the car. Jan was in the front passenger seat and David, of course, at the wheel.  As they departed hands waved from every window.  Being an only child, seeing such a large family having so much fun was a revelation – and so exciting!

Years later, it was such a priviledge for Mum, my wife Beckie, my son Ashley and me to join the family at the Cricket Pavilion for the Golden Wedding.
